Jedo academy - the genuine release vs Warez

JEDI ACADEMY
I've been wondering for a while now what the hell is going on with this game.

Everyone seems to have played it - there isn even a nocd patch hosted by GCW. As the release date is 17th sept what cd does this cracck disable the need for?

I know it is relatively easy to obtain an illlegal download of the leeked gold version of the game, but why would this download require cd copy protection.

There must be many people like myself who are eagerly waiting for the official release but are frustrated by the rest of the gaming comunity already discussing it in the gaming forums.

Surely Lucasarts should release the game ASAP before everyone has it - coz sales are gonna suck & be artificially low come the 17th.

I have already petitioned Lucasarts to get the game into stores & would like to ask others to do the same.

Can ANYONE explain the actions of lucasarts witholding the game for so long after going Gold. They must know how quick off the mark the pirates are. Are they really so naive as to not know there are thousands of people already playing and distributing a product they put much work into, free of charge.

Is it any wonder game prices are so high - someone always has to pay. And it's people like me & many of you who are paying so some dumb pirate kid can play this game right at this moment, while we sit & wait in support of game development teams.

I dont have a problem with no-cd cracks. Indeed I use them all the time for my legit games. And know that some warez teams are often instrumental in cracking copy prot. But piracy is getting wildly out of hand and I would like to ask all of you with any interest in this game to help get it in stores for Lucas and Raven Softwares own sake as well as our enjoyment.

I dont have the JediAcademy sopport mail link to hand but hope someone could post it. You can start at WWW.LucasArts.com/JediAcademy or http://support.lucasarts.com

Thank you for reading this post, while I know it is slightly off topic it is still relevant to this community

Hi non-fiction, I'd only like to reply to your "why release it so late" question: there are _always_ bugs in a game or, more generally, a program! The later you release it, the more time your tester team has to test it and the more time your programming/design team has to fix bugs.

Have you ever seen Microsoft delay the release of any of their programs? I guess not. Do you remember what the estimated release date of DOOM was? "Whenever we finish it." Now go see the difference between the quality. It's all a matter of compromise.

And don't bother asking Lucasarts to release the game earlier. I'm sure they won't, meaning you only created an amount of completely redundant E-mails for them to process and, effectively, waste time with!

point taken - & very valid, I certainly don't want to swamp game developers with pointless mail.

I've just been led to beleive that that no more testing is being done & the version circulating is same version we will be playing soon. So why withhold it?

Hey non-fiction, if you ask me, they _should_ put something into the real game that differs from the leaked beta! Remember the threads that are still going on about people being unable to play/upgrade MOH:AA and/or install updates to it...?

Your right, I thought of that already & have asked Raven if any changes are gonna be made - and in light of the mass pirating of this game I've heard that changes may be made - or the copy protection changed. Though this is not official - just something I read elsewhere - the developers aint talking & thats fair enough, I'd rather they tweak the game than mail pple like me.

So lets hope there is a reason to wait, the warez version is redundent, and above all, the game doesn't stink!!

it's not long till release date now anyway!

What chance do Raven have of changing anything in the game when the game went gold several weeks ago and has now already shipped to stores? The game goes on sale officially next week (Wednesday in the States, Friday in Europe).

Wanna something equally as entertaining about this ordeal? The master server for MP has been up for 3 weeks now.. but.. the game went gold about that time. It's almost like.. they're knifing themselves in the gut.
