May just be a cheap DVD player. Those $50 ones suck. I have a good Poinner i got for $180, and a cheapo $50 Wal-Mart one.

They seem to play original DVDs fine. But cd-r and dvd-r not so good. I got the $50 one to play SVCDs on. Since my older Poinner didn't. Now the cheapo is in the closet.

Head over to a Best Buy and try out their dvd players on display.

Yeah but media player will play anything, including a vcd that might not have been made correctly.

VCD's

Nero sucks for making VCD's. Try Stomp's "RecordNowMax" or Roxio's "EasyCD Creator". I've had real good luck with both and absolutley NO luck with Nero.
