PS1 Games

Hi

I have a version 7 PS2 fitted with the Messiah2 chip but im having probs with PS1 games

Out of 10 PS1 games i burnt only 1 works
Ive tested these all in ePSXe and they all work perfectly, ive used all sorts of media and the game that does work is on the same media too

I have burnt them all at 4x and on very good quality discs, i hear the PS2 loading them up and then i hear a click noise and then it goes to the "Please insert a PS2 or PS1 disc" screen

To boot them up i turn on the PS2 with the reset button and hold onto it for 10 secs, do i need to do something else for all PS1 games or do i need some sort of boot disc that could fix the problem?

Thanks very much

10 seconds is a little excessive. Try about 5 seconds. If that doesn't work then there is likely a prob with the install.

Thanks Bighap I only just found this thread again a was thinking it had been deleted

I tried what you said and most games work now but first i have to turn the Plug socket off every time i want to start a new PSX game and then turn it back on again

This only happens with PS1 game, its quite funny as when i have friends round and were playing PSX games i have to move the TV and reach behind it to turn the plug off and then on again and then push the TV back again and start the game My m8s must think im bonkers

Im sure if i got a flip top or one of those no solder mods it would have been easy to play PSX as i wouldnt need to move the TV everytime

Thanks

You don't need to unplug your ps2. When changing games eject your current game and put in the new one and close the tray. Then hold the reset button for a few seconds and it will put your ps2 in stand by. Now boot like you are supposed to.

Yes ive tried doing that

But they only work if i cut the power off first before i load up another game, maybe is reseting the chip or something when you cut the power?

It also doesnt work when you turn the power switch off on the console, on mine it will only play a new playstation game after you have cut the power at the socket

I know that my Chip is a proper M2 so i dont know what could be the problem

Boot like I explained in my earlier reply. Hold reset for about 5 seconds or until the blue lght comes on.

Something must be screwy with your install or something. Maybe one of our installers here will have a better idea.

worked it oxfam, (well it works for me)

put your ps1 backup into your ps2, and close the tray.

wait about 10 secs and turn the power off. at the ps2

turn the power back on at the ps2

push the reset button, and it loaded!
