Mas system trouble

Hey, does anyone have a mas system controller? i have one and somehow the controller just kept on unplugging. if i i am on the menu screen, the controller works just fine, but when i play a game....it says the controller is not plug in.
I know that it's the cord, and that there might be a broken wire somewhere or maybe not. i don't know. if anyone know how to fix this, please let me know. thanks.
and if it's the cord, does anyone know how i can make one from the original dreamcast cord or where i can buy the cord? i opened the dreamcast controller up and it has only 4 wires. but when i open the mas system controller, it has 5 wires. one is like just completely white.
