vcd/svcd to one

i am using dvd-x and have found that it works quite well with good picture quality and being user friendly, has helped being an ageing novice.nero to burn, i am wondering is it possible to compress the two disc scenario to one disk without forfeiting picture or sound quality.i have read and even downloaded several compression programs (clone,dvd2one,etc as listed in this forum) but they all seem to refer to dvd burners & dvd-r's which are at this time to expensive in australia for my meger budget. any ideas would be appreciated
nb;please forgive me if i have over looked something allready written in the forum

i dont think i would bother,,,i dont know of any programs out there that will do vcd svcd,,,if your using mpeg1 think of the quality now and think about it if ya compressed it by 50%,,,look bad,,,
svcd are cheap and just as good quality as dvd just on 2 discs

what program are you using for svcd?

hey there c_walkin thanks for the tip.i'm just going to keep doing what im doing and be happy with what i got (2 disc's sometimes 3)intotal now i've backed up around 50 movies with only 1 failure .as for the program im using DVDx 2.2 which gives me the option of either vcd or svcd just by a few simple changes to the output settings.

svcd

i dont like using that program_,,i have spent many months trying different programs to see what ones the best and also dvd programs, the best program that i have have had the most sucess with is DVD2SVCD.
this program is FREE and u can download it at www.DVD2SVCD.org.It has all the programs that you will need to rip and process the movie,,,But you will need an Encoder such as TMPEG or Cinema Craft Encoder, i preffer cce but you need to find patch for cce,,,but u just put in the movie and click go and away it goes,,,give it a try
