Little Off Topic: Which Laptop Is Best?
I'm going off to college next year and I need to get a laptop for the course (Computer Programmer Analyst) and I've narrowed it down to 2 laptops but I need assitance in chosing the best one.
They are: Toshiba Tecra S1 PT831C-0ZQ3V Pentium M, 1.5GHZ 256 MB RAM 60 GB Hardrive CD-RW/DVD-ROM V.92 Data/Fax Modem 32 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 15" SXGA Monitor 2 x USB 2.0 Link IBM ThinkPad R40 2722GCU Pentium M, 1.4GHZ 256 MB RAM 40 GB Hardrive CD-RW/DVD-ROM V.92 Data/Fax Modem 32 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 15" XGA Monitor 3 x USB 2.0 Link "Performance" Laptop BTW, The Toshiba is $250 cheaper than the IBM Also, What is DIMM RAM? and would you suggest I buy 256k of it for the laptop?

They're both good laptops I guess... I'd get the IBM if I had to choose. DIMM is a type of memory packaging. There are SDRAM and DDR SDRAM dimms these days, and the two differ in connectors, so the question you should ask yourself, is that memory DDR SDRAM or just SDRAM ?

I'd say you wee a lot off topic...
yeah go with the IBM - if you can't get a compaq. but honestly anyone playing unreal II with a touch pad on a train with "gameboy" speakers should be shot. Pump some iron boy and carry around a desktop and a portable generator - works for me.
