The Sims (PAL)

Reading thorough old messages, I see that people have had success backing this up, even though it can be a little tricky.

I have tried backing up my UK version using CloneCD and Alcohol 120% and both times it has failed. When I put my CD into the PS2, it part boots up (the Sims memory card verification screen comes up), but when the EA Games logo and Sims intro videos try to start, the video is really slow and jumpy and eventually it just freezes.

I have a messiah v2 (definitely) and a V4 PS2 (I think). Whilst I'm sure I'm not using the most ideal of media (PC Line CD-R 80 Min), it has worked on everything else I have backed up (5 or 6 titles so far).

The only other thing I have noted is that despite setting the record speed initially at 10x, I have brought it down as far as 1x, but the two burning progs seem to bypass it and carry on at 8x anyway. Could that be the problem? If so, can anyone suggest some reliable CD-R media to purchase in the UK?

Other than that, does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? I assume that because the game sort of starts, I don't need to apply any sort of patch.

Sorry for the babbling. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Ceequeue.

Hi. Have you passed the game through ClonyXXL? If not try that then start CloneCD. That will do the trick. As for the media, if it works with other titles, I can't see it being a problem but try and get hold of some Verbatim next time. If it is fast media (32x upwards) burn it at the fastest speed the media will let you go. It responds better to this which should sort out Video problems. Which writer do you have? This would help... Anyway, give that a try. If you don't have ClonyXXL, go to www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk and go to the Software section and download it from there.

Need any more help with this problem then just shout, I'll be happy to help...
