Whinning and pitching?

Is it normal for the ps2 to make whining and pitching noises while loading from CDR/DVD -R cd's while its loading?

The games run fine but are the noises ok?

Could you record these sounds so I can better understand these noises you are talking about?

It depends on the condution of yr laser. My version 5 makes a bit of whining especially when first booting up but version 7 doesn't.

I have put it down to version 5 getting a bit old now and laser calibration not so good as it was.

Try running a cleaning disk through it, if this doesn't work then the only way you'll get rid of it probably is a new laser, so as long as the games keep working, don't worry about it.

Regards
