question about a 30001 ps2 problem..

i have a 30001 ps2
since 2000 i got it..
since monday it stoped playing
backups, originals
only cd rom games..
and itīs strange because
i was playing like at 5pm o clock
then returned for a guilty gear x2 play
and didnt wanted to start
and since doesnt play any dvd
i took it to repair
they opened and say everything was fine..
that my machine is in excelent shape
and that they dont see whatīs the problem..
with it..

any suggestion?
to see if i can save my old friend
i have some paternal love for it becaue
it was my first ps2

Your version of ps2 had bad lasers. It sounds like it might have died on you. But the laser could just be dirty too. Try a laser cleaning disc first. Get one with the little brushes on the bottom. If it still wont work your best option is to get a new ps2. Not sure what mod you have but if it's a neo chip get rid of it! These fry lasers.

if i reaplace the laser should it work fine?

It should be ok. The only way to get a NEW laser is if you send it in to Sony, which isn't worth it. You can get used lasers that are supposed to be working when you buy them but there is no telling hows much juice it has left. You are best off just buying a new ps2.
