files on VCD/DVD

I've been looking everywhere for help about this and just can't get straightened out. Our DVD player apparently plays VCDs. Will a PS2 also play? I'm in Canada and there's some british comedy clips I've downloaded that I'd like on a DVD or VCD. I just can't get it to work. Any hints? I didn't want to ruin my laser on the PS2 so I thought I'd check first. Any guides would be really appreciated.

The ps2 won't play vcd. You could convert your files to avi or divx and then use the PS2 Reality Player to play them on you ps2...

DVD-VCD

I've heard that dvd-vcd's work. Its a DVD with vcd video burnt onto it. It requires the audio bit rate to be changed to 48kbps(vcd is 44.1kbps) You also need to create a dvd file out of them (.vob, .ifo, .bup). The process is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/vcddvdr.htm

I'd test it out to be sure, but I am currently out of disks. A dvd-rw may be smart to try so you don't end up with a coaster.
