help please

i recentlly installed my magic 3.1 chip and it looks like all the soldering is good. i turn the ps2 on and the only games i can play are OG ps2 (dvd) games, OG psx and burned games wont play same as cd based ps2 games. yes i put the game in and put the ps2 in standby and pressed restart and nothin. any advice would be appreciated

thanks
bob

update
i think it might be a bootin up problem because i was messin around with it and i get a solid black screen and sometimes i get the browser screen again im goin to burn them on better cds and see what happens from there. i dont think this is a soldering problem but more or less a backing up and booting problem

What version PS2 do you have? If the laser is on the way out then this will cause most, if not all, backups to read incorrectly. A completely shot laser will also cause the blank screen problem. Does the blank screen happen on all discs or just backups. What happens when you try to play backups? Red Screen, stuck at browser, disc read error...?

ok it plays my my OG ps2 games with no problem at all. i have a v5 when trying to load up my ps2 backups (cd based games) it acts like its goin to load then it stays at a black screen and other times i get the red screen i think its a media problem. now it keeps on goin to a black screen it says playstation then like white scibbles under it then SCEA under that, towards the bottom of the screen

i just opened the ps2 and took another look all the wires are solderred perfect with no bridges but low and behold that freakin s wire came undone i swear that freakin wire never stays i use flux and everything it stays untill i go to put it back together then it usually comes loose. maybe thats why my backups wont play
