Dreamcast CDRW Modification

Well it took me a while, searching through the for underground sections of the net, but i finally found enough information to allow me to make my dreamcast read cdrw. My main reason for doing this was so i could test out new emulators, practice some self booting games, and make video and mp3 cds, without wasting numerous cdr's.

Firstly the only site that i found that had pictures was this one http://dciso.********/cdrw-en.htm so go there for a small guide.

I had two different figures for measuring the variable resistor (potentiometer) most of them suggested turning the adjuster 1/4 of the way clockwise, i found this to be excessive and resulted in no games running at all, originals, cdr's or cdrw's.

The two figures that i found on the net for the ohm resistance were 544 from DCCopyWorld, and between 400 and 500 from this place http://homepage.dtn.ntl.com/dominic.clifton/consoles/copying/dreamcast.htm. I found DCCopyWorld's 544 ohm to be to much, resulting in the same side effects as a full 1/4 turn.

In the end i experimented with lots of different settings, finding the max and min ohm resistance that i could use, until eventually i narrowed it down to 452 ohm's, this i found to a perfect setting, all my originals work, all my cdr backups work, and my various brands or cdrw discs work as well, excelent.

If anyone wants help, check those two web addresses out, and/or contact me and i'll help if i can.

Sorry, 452 ohms was a setting that DID NOT work, 465 was the perfect setting, sorry for any confusion.
