Does newer dreamcast system play backed up games?

A friend of mines told me that the newer dreamcast system won't allow you to play the copied games?

Anyone hear the same thing or know if it is true?

Ive never heard this before;
however, I've got a DC (pal) taken a month ago that does'nt have any problems to run backups.
