network adapter slowing down ps2

have a us v7 with m2 installed. been running great for 2 weeks now and today i installed the network adapter. now you can hear the fan change speed as well as needing to hold the reset button down longer to get the ps2 to reset. shutting down to standby also takes longer. it seems like the network adapter is drawing to much power from the ps2. is this normal?? anyone else see this ??

update. when the game starts to load the fan speeds up and there is an amber flash. looking at the front air vents its on the left side.

I saw the flash tonight! I seriously thought I'd imagined it! What's THAT all about then?!
