Unreal 2 is kick'in my butt!!!
I used blindwrite suite to read to image, used the BWA to get physical info and burned with blind write. It copied the disks successfuly and the game installs fine from the back-up.
Here's what I cant figure out: on one machine I installed from original and can play the game using the BU play disk. (passing the secur rom check) on another machine I installed from BU successfully but the game wont run from the BU play disk. but will run from the original. Confused yet? The only difference between the 2 machines I can see is the first has a LG 52X Rom (not cdrw) I was running from. The second machine has a DVD Rom. I know Secur rom disks cant be used in cdrw's because they can see more. Is this the case with DVD drives also? I'm stuck!!!

G'day Sixx2,
Some of my backups only play from my DVD Drive & not the CDRW as you said. I wouldnt say the DVD drive is the issue here..... Unfortunatley, I dont have the benefit of having Unreal 2 yet as we "Down the Land Of AUS" take a whiles to get games.......  If you have CloneCD installed..... right click the Sys. Tray Icon & ensure Hide CDR Media is ticked...... (It's simply hiding the fact that the Backup Copy is a CDR disc) Then start the game again in your DVD drive & see if that works........ in some cases this works for me........

I didn't think the "hide cd media" option was appropriate for Securom 4.8XX and up.
Also, Hide cd media is only for cdrw drives. it does not give the option for cd rom or dvd rom drives. ?? Last edited by Sixx2; 05-02-2003 at 09:05.

It Could Be..... & it may not be Sixx2.....its a suggestion to see if it works or not.....
& did it......./..  Again, I do not have the benefit of buying my own copy yet as we do not have it available yet....... So it is Securom Protected is it .... What Do You think.....? Its unlikely on a DVD drive....but it could be.... thats why its a suggestion.... not a test of knowledge here.....  or of course you wanted to let us know you got Unreal 2....?

Could be a Boo..Boo... on GCW's part but thats highley unlikely.......surely.....
 I have seen a game released in the US, for example, can use a different protection than a game released in the Land Of Aus.... Anyways......You've obviously made a perfect 1:1 copy as it plays in your LG CD Rom, so just download the crack / fix & you wont need to worry about your DVD Rom..... or is there still CD Checks Sixx2....given the crack is only noted as a fixed exe..... ?

The Crack works fine with the BU play disk. Also the NFO file that comes witht he crack states it is Securom.
Mystery solved!!! For anyone else out there trying to BU this game: Use blindwrite suit (newest version) read to image at recomended setting. Do a cd desity read with the BWA tool.)(follow included inst) burn useing BW recomendations ( DAO-PW) on most drives Play the Game!! on others use the above linked Fixed EXE. Happy Fragging!!!!
