Unhappy Help with Magic 3

I recently bought a Magic 3 Clip Kit v2.10 for my 39001 (v7) PS2 from modchip.ca.

I installed the modchip, clip and BGA Board myself. It boots up fine and plays original CD-ROM & DVD games but when I attempt to play a CD-R game, I get the red screen saying "Please insert Playstaion or Playstsion 2 Disc". It acts like nothing has changed. Any ideas?

I have tried reburning the ps2 game using different guides found on the net but it does the same thing, red screen "Please Insert...". I have also tried burning on 3 different cd-r medias. No change.

I'm running out of ideas. Could anyone give any suggestions on what to do next?

Before you rip everything out, check your points to make sure none are bridged.

Unhappy

Thanks for the suggestions. I re-installed it but I think I fried/burnt/melted something. When I turn the console on, the green power button and blue eject button light up, and function correctly but when I try a disk in it, the disk does not spin at all. Also the fan does not spin.

Any ideas what I could have done?

did u check all of your ribbon cables(that could solve the spinning problem)and for the fan not working 1.you could have forgoten to plug it in!2. you could of sliced the fan wire while screwing in your metel pan. or3. you could of screwed your whole system!

tell us what happens!

I think it's done for. I uninstalled the modchip but it's still malfunctioning. The drive seems dead. When I put in a disk, it only starts with a short spurt then stops. Also I get no video signal going out to my TV when I turn it on. And still no fan.

Ohhh the money wasted. $$

That's why you get a pro to do the install unless you are very experienced at soldering extremely small points.

Try checking the fuses BEFORE you scrap your V7.... You can have a look at the fuses and there values from a link Charlie_PS2 provided in the "Factoids" post....

The link is in the last post on this page.
