no cd patch

I wonder if anyone can tell me how to use the no cd patch for aoe2. If it just download and press the icon then it is not working or should I copy it with the disk?

replace the original exe that the game created when installed with the one you downloaded....

when the game is installed it creates a directory(c/program files/game...)ib this directory there will be two files named like the gam is named,the one is an ico file and the other an exe.what you do is copy the file you downloaded and paste it in the directory your game has created ,if all goes well a window will pop up asking you to replace the exe that your game created,choose yes and now go and play ......!!!!!!!!!
