DVD+R / RW disks?

Hi got every thing working great and now its time to me to burn my back ups.
I went and picked up a pack of DVD-Rs, got home made an ISO of one of games, put one of the blank DVDs in my drive, opened PrimoDVD, and it told me my drive wasnt ready. (Meaning there was sone thing wrong with the disk) So I took that disk out and stuck another blank into the drive and same thing.
Now I was sitting here thinking maybe there was a prob with the DVDs or my drive it self. Thinking to my self, maybe I have DVD+RW drive, I looked at the drive face, and yep the damn thing is a DVD+RW drive.
So my question is, can the XBox read DVD+R / RW disks? I hate to come all this way and get screwed by my drive.

Thanks again

if you bought the drive locally, then take it back for a dvd-r drive, because it would be cheaper for you because you could use those -r blanks that you paid for

It depends on your burner. Compuhackers can only burn dvd+r's, so he can't use the dvd-r's.

If your burner can read dvd-r, then it should work fine.

Ok WTF! I've been setting here screwing around with the setting in PrimoDVD, and RecordNow MAX, there were saying my DVDs went blank, witch I know they are b/c I just bought them. So maybe I was thinking maybe the one disk is bad, so I opened the rest of the pack and got the same thing. So then I remembered my drive came with Nero. Looked and looked for the installed CD and couldnt find it, so I ended up downloading it. Got it installed and went in with the Wizard and set it up to burn a ISO. Got it all the way there, and the bitch said I needed a DVD-R/RW disk?!?

So now I'm a little pissed here, my drive wants DVD+R/RWs and Nero wants to burn to DVD-R/RWs?!? I even went back and looked at my drive and it says DVD+RW on it. Went online and found my drive, and it even says its a DVD+R/RW.

See I've never burned back ups before, I had my friends do it b/c they knew what they were doing. So now I decided I want to do it.

So what do you think, should I take these DVD+Rs back and get DVD-Rs and try again with Nero? I'm about to give up on this whole damn thing.

Thanks.

If your dvd burner only supports burning dvd+r's, then don't switch for dvd-r's. It's probably the software your using. I never burned dvd's with Nero, so maybe it doesn't support burning dvd+r's. Look for a Program called PrimoDVD, or Record Now. I know thay can burn both + and - dvd's.

Marshin, your burner can only burn to what it supports. Look on the box or go online. It should say what kind of dvd's it supports burning.
If it only supports dvd-r's, then you can't use dvd+r's. If it supports dvd+r's, then you can burn to dvd-r's. If it supports both, then you can use either of them.

I never said it didn't, I merely said I haven't tried it.

Guess you missed a part of my post, I said: "I've been setting here screwing around with the setting in PrimoDVD, and RecordNow MAX, there were saying my DVDs went blank."

Maybe I got some bad disks? Will take these back, and if my new ones dont work I know I got a prob.
