Exclamation Wot the hell can I use this for?

My girlfriend bought me a CD writer for Xmas! She thought it would be a good idea so I could copy music and stuff.

I have two questions for the board, I use Winmx to download MP3 and MPEG.
1. Can I burn these onto a CD-R using my supplied software "Nero 5" ?, if so
2. Will audio play on cd player and video on DVD player?

Any advice and I mean any would be helpful!

Select Audio Cd in Nero in order to get the music to play in a stereo.
Select Video CD (VCD) for video.

Audio CD: Select Audio CD compilation in Nero, then drag those mp3 to the compilation window, Nero will make/burn an Audio CD that you can play in any CD / DVD Player.

Video CD: I guess your CD Writer is a CD Writer not a DVD Writer, so you only can use Nero to make VCD or SVCD. Select Video CD or Super VCD compilation in Nero, then drag those mpeg to the compilation window, Nero will prompt you to re-encode imcompatible files, then it will make/burn an correct CD for you.

For better re-encoding result, I would recommend TMPGenc. And both TMPGenc and Nero need additional $$ to re-encode SVCD standard, but not VCD, or should I call MPEG1, VCD encoding is free in TMPGenc, but this kind of re-encoding need times, very slow...

You don't need to convert mp3 to wave with Nero. Just burn the mp3s.

Yep, just choose create audio cd and drag and drop your mp3s into the compilation. Couldn't be easier.
