XBOX and VCD's and SVCD's

This is probably the wrong section but can the XBOX play VCD's and SVCD's?

I don't think so, but it can play mpg's and avi files with the Xbox Media Player. It's the closest thing to it.

So I could put an avi on a cd and watch it on my XBOX. Is that what you mean?

yes, or you can send it to the Hard-drive. If you find "xbox media player", there is a folder to put your movie files in. You make an iso image with that program and your movie, then burn in. You can then watch it on your xbox.

Or you can put xbmp on your HDD along with the movie file and watch it.

Ok, thanks.

Just to make it clear and see if what I've done is right....

I ripped a DVD, turned the VOF's into an avi and burned this avi onto a cd.

So if I put it in, will I be able to watch the movie?

not without a program called "Xbox media player". You download this program and burn it on your cd, along with the movie file.

Xbox Media Player is a homebrew app that someone made. It allows you to play movies on an xbox, simular to what DreamVCD does for the dreamcast.

Check out here to read about it. It's the official site

You need a modded xbox to run the media player right?

donkey33 it all depends on wich codec you used to encode the avi file...
