Need info regarding SwapMagic2
I have a no-solder modchip v.4 + SwapMagic2.0. And the problem is when I press the eject button the power button goes orange and there is a strange sound form the ps2, but the cd-tray dosen't open. When I then try to insert a backup game the screen goes pink. Hmm so is it the chip or the backup.. ?

Check that ALL the ribbon cables are correctly in the no solder. and push the No solder in as far as it will go. Try it with the case off be4.
I've never had the buzz noise but i've had the drive not eject once. Lager and modding don't go well together The drive should eject. And can i just ask what version ps2 you have????

Does the tray eject normal by taping eject? If so the the chip is damaged or not pushed in correctly but most of the time its the chip.

All i can suggest is to take out the mod board, then reinstall it making sure that ALL ribbons are tight in the board, and that the board is pushed as far as possible into the slots on the ps2.
With or without using the swap magic 2 disks if you hold down eject the light should turn yellow and the drive should eject, then reinsert within 5 seconds. This is a very simple mod so if you're sure you've done the above and that you haven't damaged any of the ribbon cables then send your mod back. Also, make sure you haven't pulled the ribbon cables out on the board itself. Let me know how you get on

I think that i'll just replace the chip with a new one. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all the support. |
