'YES' you can make direct copies of DVD games using PrimoDVD read the sticky at the top on how to do this. No need to patch DVD images to remove any sort of protection as of yet, only NTSC/PAL or vice versa patches are available (optional) i think.

If if mean DVD movies, u cannot make direct copies of them. You have to rip the movie via SmartRipper (which i use) to remove macrovision etc.. then burn it back to DVD-R. Also DVD-R's only hold up to 4.7GB as of DVD movies can be up to 9GB or so, as a result of the dual layer. In this case you have to re-encode the movie and downsample it so it can fit onto a normal DVD-R which is very time consuming and a pain in the arse.

Make sure you use decent DVD-R media for your PS2 (i.e Verbatim, Traxdata etc..)

DVD+R's don't work well with the PS2 only certain V5's and above i think, but the A04 doesn't support DVD+R.

Hope this helps!
