Warcraft III 1.04 - Fairlight Releace - LAN Problems??
Greetings all,
I am currently using the Fairlight WarcraftIII 1.04 crack . The crack functions flawlessly during single-player usage of the game. But whenever I try to Create/Join a LAN game (not bnet), no games appear on the Join Screen, and nobody can see the games I create. Has anybody else encountered this same problem? Is this flaw created by the crack itself, or has anybody had the same problems with an Unpatched version of 1.04? Single Player is great for it's campaigns, but the game truly shines in it's Multi-Playability. I am eager to find a solution to this problem, so if anyone has any ideas/fixes to this problem, please let me know. Thank you. A fellow gamer, DKnight2066 EDIT: I used the Official 1.04 Patch, downloaded from Blizzard's FTP Site, to patch my version of WarcraftIII. I mention this just in case it has any bearing to the problem i'm having.

Re: Warcraft III 1.04 - Fairlight Releace - LAN Problems??
Quote:
Greetings again all, Just for those who may have had the same problem I described in my previous post, I finally found a fix for it. Just to recap: I could create a game with any of my three networked systems, under WarcraftIII, but nobody could see the games I created, so joining became impossible. But any other game worked just fine: Starcraft, WarcraftII-BNE, Baldur's Gate II.....and so on. Solution: I found out that Warcraft III no longer relies upon the IPX/SPX Protocol for network games, but instead uses TCP/IP, since Windows 2000 and XP seem to prefer it over IPX/SPX (Even though it is still included in those OS's). What you need to do is make sure that everyone has their IP addresses set to the same range. (Example - 192.168.0.1=First system - 192.168.0.2=Second System.....etc). Also, even though I wasn't sure it was needed, I went and edited my Windows 2000/XP "Hosts" file and added the appropriate IP Addresses with their corrasponding HostNames. The "Hosts" file is located within your: C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc The file just says "Hosts", with no file extention, so don't add one or else it might foul up Windows. Below is an exerpt from my "Hosts" file... Example "127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.0.1 192.168.0.2 " End of example NOTE: The "127.0.0.1 localhost" entry always exists within every "Hosts" file, so just leave it alone. Even though I never added the actual "Network Names" of each system on the network, adding just the IP Addresses of the systems who wished to Host/Join my WC3 games worked fine. Final Note: As for you Windows 98/ME users who may have encountered this same problem, my solution should still prove useful, as you can still manually set your IP Address under those operating systems. The only thing i'm not sure of is wether or not Win98/ME use the same "HOSTS" file to manually designate where to send TCP/UDP Packets over a network/internet connection. If someone could check on this and post back here, it would help alot, as I currently do not run Windows98 or ME. That pretty much sums up my findings. As always, if anybody has questions about what I just described, just post and i'll do my best to help you. Take care all! ![]() A Fellow Gamer, DKnight2066
