DVD-SVCD copy programs

I have a new DVD ROM and CD RW and I'm looking for free software to play my DVD movies on my computer. Any recomendations?

Was also looking for a free utility to make backups of DVDs to SVCDs. Anyone know of any good free software that can do this?

Making backups there are free tools, go to http://www.vcdhelp.com/ lots of tools & Nfo!
