Question CD/DVD-R Media for PS2 Backups

I've read many posts here re: media types to use for PS2 backups and was wondering are there some simple basic guidelines for buying these media especially as it relates to protecting the PS2 laser for as long as possible. Money isn't a huge issue however I don't want to go broke either. I'm not sure if the media (CD-R) matters between PS1 and PS2's.

My concerns are:
Silver/Silver's
Black backs
Brands/Price (Top 3)
Best buy for laser reads

My Equip:
Plextor 40/12/40A
v5 30001 R/Magic 2
LF-D311 DVD-R/RAM
Lite-on 16/10/40

Charlie for one has posted a great deal of info on this over a number of months and you could learn a lot setting side some time looking back over previous posts.
It would be well worth it.
What i've picked up along the way is this.
Basically it's a question of reflectivity, the better the reflectivity of the media being used the less strain on the laser.
Spending a bit more on good quality media eg, VERBATIM cdr and
TRAXDATA dvd-r is worth the price.
Because.
1, the laser issue allready mentioned.
2, you'll have less coasters which not only prevents wasting money but just as importantly to me it prevents wasting time
pissing about trying to get a good backup and maybe even thinking something else is wrong when trying to do so.
Using a lens cleaner say once a week is also a recomendation
that comes from the guys who know and there not too expensive.

Hope this helps a bit.

Argo.
