audio burning

i have a compac presario 5868 the program"cequadrat just burn" to burn cd's. i have had good luck until recently when i burn audio cd's, the last few songs start to have clicking noises in them that progress in intensity. i always read down to the hard drive then burn onto the blank cd. i have tried all different types of cd's and burning speeds w/o luck. any ideas on how to correct the problem?
