In what conditions Underrun occurs? If u are writing on the fly from other CD, i would recommend copying the data to hard disc first. Also increasing read ahead cache maybe helps

sometimes it copies ok. but sometimes it makes buffer underruns, read cache falls quickly then cd writer buffer does. Ý have a yamaha 8424e burner. 128mb ram. Nero 5.5.1.8

I have the same problem with mine. The buffer bar indicator goes slowly down and than give me a write error.

How much free disc space do u have? Defragment of the harddisc helps in a lot of cases. Are u multitasking? I hope NOT! What speed are you burning the CD at? Try 1x as it is the safest speed. Increasinf of Cache memory might help as well like Mustaneekeri said. However, the most IMPORTANT think you have to think about is IDE channels. You should have the burner set as MASTER to the harddisc.

I had the same problem at first. There are 2 things you can try.
1st. Burn at a lower speed
or

2. Go into your bios and make sure your ultr dma support is turned on and also turned on under your system settings.
Now works fine on high speed never under runs
