if you go out and rent the game all you have to do is copy the cd. You can do that for psx and dreamcast, but not ps2. You can do ps2 but you need a dvd burner or a converter to cange it from dvd to cdr. But if you get them of the internet your can just burn them to cd if you get the write file.

dreamcast ripping is much more complicated then that,.. there is a great tutuorial you can find at dccopyworld.com. they also have tutorial's on playstation ripping as well. if you just try to copy the cd,.. it will only copy the first part of the disc(for dreamcast) there are two parts to a dreamcast disc. there is the normal music and then on the outter part,.. there is densely compressed information. you're cd drive won't be ablt to read that. normally the dreamcast is used as a cd drive when ripping a dreamcast disc. unless you are copying a backup. in which case,.. you just just copy the disc. and it will work as long as the drive you use to read it is capable of reading sub channel data.

Geez! Yet another new bunch (or is that flock or gaggle) of Newbies who think they know everything there is to know about game backups, spreading misinformation about Dreamcast game copies.

To sngskunk, daleandjess is right... The ***ONLY*** way you can *EVER* copy a Dreamcast game, which is on a GD-ROM disc (Gigabyte Disc Read Only Memory) is to hook up a Dreamcast to a PC by serial or network cable, run special software on both the Dreamcast (Dreamrip) and PC (Terraterm). Then you dump the disc image from the Dreamcast to the PC, extract the files from the image, hack them, edit the A/V files to make them smaller, remove unnecessary stuff like Japanese Language support, just so you can fit 990 to 1000 mb of original game data onto a single 700 mb disc.

Not an easy task. Many have tried, much fewer have succeeded.
