can hp 8100i ide be flashed to make writing speed faster than 4?

i've heard this cdrw can be flashed using another burners firmware to make it copy faster than 4 speed and to make it compatible with clone cd.is this true? if so please could u give me the info on how to do this and what specs it would change it to? thanx in advance
i know this is a crap burner
would it be able to read and write subchannel data?

You could always try and destroy your burner like so many others have done in trying to turn a burner into something it isn't.

it doesn't matter if it breaks the copier as i have a philips pcrw804k aswell i just want to know if its possible so i can have two burners!!!

The 8100 is a rebadged Philips 4201, your Philips is a 4401. There is unfortunately no way of upgrading your HP as it is not a Sony drive, as the later HP units are.
