Playing MPGs on PS2

I've tried burning MPGs to CD and playing them on both my DVD player and PS2. Neither seem to like it much. Any suggestions or can you point me in the proper direction?

to play them on a DVD player, they have to be in videocd format (nero does that), and the player has to support them. the ps2 will not play them at all.

from what i hear mpeg1's or videocd's wont work on the ps2 but mpeg2 dvd format will work...the question then would be wether or not you have a dvdr drive...
