ps2.....whats going on

ok guys,whats happening
had ps2 chipped and got action replay cart.
backup psx games work as long as i reset with disc in tray.
ea games i have to swap with ar after selecting ####t with no cheats
all other backup ps2 games only work when master code is active on ar then swap.
i use clonecd to burn
is this right,or whats gone wrong???
