A question about NTSC2PAL

Hi from Spain,

I have a PAL PS2 and I'd like to know if there's any advantage about converting PAL games to NTSC. I mean, PAL games run at 50 Hz with large black strips in my TV. If I pass them to NTSC, will they run at 60 Hz?
If not, where's the point in passing games from PAL to NTSC, if you have a modchip and both PAL and NTSC games boot without problems?
