(newbie) just got my serial cable, and im stressed out b/c i dont know where or how to start. SOME

Im having a problem. i read the forum almost everyday so please dont tell me to look, im just wanna know to start this.

Ok. ive downloaded the serial slave, rambooster, terraterm,dreamrip, and just about everything else it seems. when i tried to unzip dreamrip all that happened was a screen came up and dissappeard. is something wrong. my question how do i get everything started. and how do i make the slave cd. i am deeply in need of help, so please give me your expert advice.
