Why are these games never easy? COD4

Bought a single CD Call of Duty 4 game on-line, with key code and all. Windows (XP) firewall error message Maybe I don't have the right processor? AMD Athlon (sic) xp2700+ 2.17 GHz 333MHz Got an error dialog twice during original install attempt mentioning Windows firewall, but I have none up. Could this really be a Service Pac issue, Service Pac2 which I can never find or successfully download or install. Computer Builder's Warehouse (where I bought this years ago with gaming in mind) is bankrupt, no real start-up CD, just what was (and wasn't, like SvcPac2, I later found out) loaded. Maybe I have to buy another "latest and greatest" PC in order to keep up with the game technology. Anyhow, game won't run. COD2 works just fine. But COD4 loaded icons on Desktop, but double-click on icon and hour glass disappears after 2 seconds. No other reaction, except sometimes I get a check CD Drive, usu after a req to send/don't send MSoft a reportable Windows system error - as if they cared. Very frustrated - out 20 bucks for the game, and it looks like I'll have to spend a couple thousand to buy a system I can play it on. Don't want to have to buy Vista, but really hoping I can just get the COD4 game to run on my system somehow. Please help. Thanks

OK if your not a bot.

You should have checked the minimum requirements first for the game. And you would have noticed your CPU for a start does not meet those requirements.
