disc wont stop spinning with utopia...

i must be amazingly dumb, but utopia boot CD prompts me to insert a disc, i open my dreamcast but the CD is still spinning. I dont want to damage the motor...wtf do i do?

also, the reindeer appears in 60hz, when my screen only supports 50hz-is this a problem?
(im using a PAL system)

Thats kinda funny, unless the pal is different than the usa, uve got a hardware problem. When you are playing a game and you open the drive does it stop or no? If its only for utopia then theres somethin really wierd with the image you got. try messing around with the switch the lid hits when you open it. That reindeer may be bad for your monitor, doesnt show up on mine... maybe once again a difference between pal and usa. I think it would be safe NOT to switch on your vga untill you think your own game is loaded.

hmmm doesnt seem do ever stop spinning when playing the games i have (originals)...that may be cos its streaming music though...

should the drive spin down always when you open the lid?

if so my DC has a problem

NO it should stop completely and go to the main menu of the dreamcast, where u set dat and time... if you feel you wouldnt destroy anything id open it up, the switch attached to the door must be stuck, or broken
