Purchasing a laptop...please advise
Know of any sites that allow you to build/customize as well as purchase a notebook computer? (Other than dell, hp, & Toshiba's).

Depends on what you will use the laptop for.
For example a laptop for gaming is going to cost way too much money and will become obsolete in 6 months because of the graphics card alone (it was never as good as a desktop anyway) If you want a laptop for "everyday things" then they are much cheaper. My point is that laptops represent the opposite of customization.

if you want an 'everyday' cheap laptop check out the asus eee series...
