What platform, which game, when, how? Read the PC Games forum FAQ. Also, for a PC, check your CPU, RAM and video card: damaged CPU or RAM can cause weird behavior and a problematic video card (driver) can, perhaps, cause the game, set to keep vertical sync, act wild.
