Hmm, is this a question or an answer?

If it is an answer, what is the question?

See you later.

If I disconnect all my IDE drives, then how am I supposed to have the disc available for when the game checks if the DVD is present?

Personally, I'm just going to wait until a crack can be worked out. I don't want Starforce on my laptop whatsoever, and I certainly don't want to have to disconnect drives just to play this game. The entire point to nocd/nodvd methods is that I don't want to go through this sort of effort to play installed games, I may as well carry around the bloody disc in that case.

Hi. I dont think that there will be another way to workaround the copy protection of starforce than to unplug the drives. (Not yet)
I mean that you will maybe wait forever?
You must make a MDF/MDS file with alcohol and then you must mount these with deanmon tools 4. so it simulates a drive.
Maybe that is the answer to the question.
If you do not want to do all of this you can use the original disc. Its your choice.

None of the current theories work, I've tried them all. I disabled my IDE options through the device manager, I've tried every anti-Starforce program out there including Nightmare, and absolutely nothing works.

The game files are going to need to be patched to remove the DVD check and Starforce elements. There is just no other way to run this game.

No, that is not true.
Of course, your MDF/MDS Files must be good.
If your DVD Drive is not supported by Alcohol 120% you can find a good MDS File on a german homepage in the internet. There is one (i know it).
But there is no way to work the game without unplugging the drives. Is is not enough only to disable them with a tool or thrugh the device manager.
It sound strange but thats the fact.

Hmm. I know that my mdf/mds are good, I made certain to rule out that possibility before anything else.

I'm not certain how I could physically disconnect the drive (and if anybody would care to explain the specifics regarding why this makes any difference, I would be interested in knowing) considering that I'm using a laptop. I really don't want to start taking apart my beautiful Alienware just to play some game with a damned protection system.

Lightbulb Scientific Explanation for why unplugging your drive is the only way!!

Hi people

I am new here and I have registered just for the sake of this damn star force that is ruining my joy of prince of persia 3 release !!

I have read all the comments here and I believe that I can give some kinna tip about this damn protection SF!!

The reason behind the fact that removin' or unpluggin' the IDE is the only way that can overcome SF protection is that StarForce works just like the device manager...just try it yourself and U'll C...when you disable the CD/DVD drives or the IDE through the device manager, it can detect them again if you enable them; so that means it is of no use doin' that through the device manager especially when U know that the way the latter search and detect the drive is the very same way the starforce does.

So once you can fool the device manager from detecting the drive, you can do the same for starforce; and ofcourse this is the reason why disconnecting the drive physically is the only way to break the protection.

I have tried all the starforce fuckin' tools and non of them worked cuz they act through disabling the drives softwarely not hardwarely...I also tried disabling the drives from the BIOS and the same result I got..

So only disconnecting the drive or a patch for the game is the way .

mesopotamica: Not to flame, but what's your point? You say nothing about SF that isn't already said 1000 times. That's no help. As a matter of fact - nothing is easier than actually using the original disc ATM.

I dont think, that there will be a fixed exe for SF in the near future.

You can see this, because its the same problem with the "King Kong"-Game from UBI-SOFT.

Maybe we should look for a way to unplug the powercables of the drives in a smarter way. Maybe to install a powerswitch on the front of the PC-Case to be able to switch the drives on and off without using screwdriver every time.

What I really wanted to say that it is of no use trying to disable your IDE or drives through the device manger or the BIOS or whatever cuz still some people I can hear and read saying that they can do so.. and I was trying to convince them.... I know that there is nothing new in my crap

Lightbulb Hmm

An easier way might just be to use either an original disk or to copy an original disk to a blank disk without creating an image on your hard drive. This actually requires the use of two drives, and one of them has to be a burner. I'm not really entirely sure if this would work because of disk serial number verification thingies that might show the disk as being a copy of another disk. The same sort of thing that might prevent two different copies of the game from one original disk from being installed on two seperate computers.I haven't actually tried this myself with POPT2T but I've done it quite successfully with other games.

Note: You'll need an appropriate program that burns directly from the orignial disk rather than copying it temporarily to your HD an then burning from there.
