Anyone know how to get this POS working on the LG Supermulti DVD burners after the 1.01 patch? sierra tech support have no clue as expected and do nothing more than cnp **** from the faq which I already tried before talking to them. Have upgraded secrom verion, upgraded dvd firmware, blah blah blah... Still says that it can't find the dvd. It spins it up and reads for a few seconds then says it can't find/auth the disc. They obviously ****ed somthing up in 1.01, but they won't admit it, still maintaining that it's somthing at my end which is wrong even though it worked before the patch and doesn't after.
Anyone know a surefire way of actually playing the game that I've paid for, short of using a nodvd patch (which I'm not too keen on since I want to play it online as well). thanks in advance. |

It is a simple answer, play it on v1.00 without updating till they resolve the issue in the next patch in the future.

Last I checked, there were about 5 private servers up with 1.00, which was the reason for upgrading to 1.01 (along with some massive amouts of hitching, which I've been told is all fixed up in 1.01)
:s Hrrmm.. now lets imagine the scenario if sierra didn't fall out with valve over steam, this might have been released over steam, I wouldn't have had to go into town and deal with morons to buy it and I would have no dvd for it to check. Heh, but no I'm still stuck here with outdated physical media spinning up in my drive. |

This is only a Guess
But when you install a game from CD or DVD (Or from anywhere) In the Registry somewhere (Not sure of this Game as I don't Have it) there is or I would of thought that there would be a location for seeing the CD or DVD Drive's & I would guess that if its missing or been deleted then the Game will ask for the Disc again, I have only ever something like that happen to me 1once. Sometimes the best way to find out if thats the case is to put your disc in the Drive again & see in the Game'sAutorun Menu of the Installer Display window, if you see an Option like Play if not then something is wrong. TIP: Have you used any Utilities like Reg cleaners etc... Anyway hope it helps

However, with the next reboot my DVD drive tried to access the FEAR DVD and just kept spinning and spinning. Ejected the CD and inserted it again. Still the same problem. DVD drive tries to access the DVD over and over again, without being able to read it for some strange reason. The DVD cannot be damaged, because it did install without any problem and hasn't left the drive until the problem started to occur. In the end I just installed a no-DVD crack. Not happy about that, but I want to play the game I paid for. |

The publisher/developer will be better at giving you an answer than we can.

Well, I managed to solve my problem. I updated the firmware of my DVD (Samsung TS-H552B) drive to the newest version (TS04 to TS10) and it's now able to read the FEAR DVD again. Installed the latest 1.02 update and still no problems. So I'm a happy chap now :-).
