I never overclock any part of my PC. If i want a faster CPU or a faster Graphiccard, i buy it.

My Battlefield 2 graphic settings are:
Resolution: 1024x768@60Hz (on a BenQ TFT-Monitor 17")
Quality: High
Terrain: High
Effects: High
Geometry: High
Textures: High
Lighting: Normal
Dynamic Shadows: Normal
Dynamic Light: Normal
AntiAliassing: Off
Texturesfilter: High
Viewrange: 100%

I have a AMD64 3500+ with 1GByte Corsair DualChannel Ram.

@GLH
Are those the settings you use for 'Online' play or for Single player? Do you use the same settings you use for single play for Online play?

Are you using AGP or PCI-e version of the 6800LE?
If it is the AGP version you could unlock the locked pipes and get much better performance. Similar to 6800GT, and then overclock to 6800U....

But you just buy if you need faster right? :P

The graphics are good (enough) for me.

I can't choose the 1280x1024 resolution.
The highest available resolution on my system is 1152x864.
I don't know why 1280x1024 isn't available.

I don't know where i can get the values from.
I have the tool Everest HomeEdition V2.01 installed, but can't find clocks speeds.

I have the AGP version of the 6800LE. I've heard about the toll RivaTuner, but i don't like to make experiments to a well running system.

I read in the monitor-manual 1280x1024@60Hz is the optimal setting. In a forum i read, when the TFT is connected via DVI there's no difference between 60Hz and 75Hz.

I have to use 75hz for a sharper screen.

To Kosmiq, dont presume I dont know about overclocking, I own a PC shop, I know what the industry is all about.

But....

You are correct that CPU's have been downgraded in speeds although same components. BUT, there is a reason why they run at speeds they have been set.

You get a 1700 and 2800 XP chip, open it up I assure you it is NOT the same chips (if you have a strong enough microscope). The high end XP's come with extra resistors, etc. Which helps them work smoothly with high voltages which is set for their speed.

As soon as you overclock from the moment you switch on your PC, stress factors over your cpu is causing it degrade very slowly or a bit quicker depending on how high the OC is.

Eventually even if OC'd slightly the damage builds and builds. Not only will your CPU be damaged, but it can damage other components in your PC, memory being one as its being stretched to cope with the increase in CPU speed/voltage.

I dont care about normal OC'ers. its the ones who have to sell their faulty hardware later on to unsuspecting people, thats what pisses me off.

What pisses me off more, is when the little idiots come to my shop and try to act like they know more than I do. I have a simple answer to that.

"If you were so bloody good, how come your PC is in here then?"

Sorry but I find people who OC, are arrogant and think they know things when they dont really.

DabHand, I know excactly what you are talking about but trust me, the reason this one has been relabeled is the fact that the 1700+ what more wanted by the market at that time.
It will run at 2800+ with no vcore changes at all, no hickups whatsoever and the guy that ordered them (he ordered 5, tried them out, picked the one he thought was 'best') did get the world record in Athlon XP overclocking. Or how about clocking that 1700+ (1.53GHz) to a whopping 3.02GHz? Of course with some serious cooling (not LN2 though)... Homebuilt... ehh whats the word in english? O crap can't remember, anyway there were cases with that **** built in that costed about 700$.

People that sell broken hardware do not deserve to own a PC. In that I am with you, but a perfectly working has-been-overclocked CPU I think is ok to sell.

And please, I am not a newcomer when it is about PC's. I have done my errors and I have learned the hard way. I have enough experience to fix my PC myself. I have no need to put it to a shop to get it fixed. I am also sure that you know enough about PC's to handle yourself and your customers...
If you have gotten the impression of me that I am arrogant and "think I know things" I will apologize right now. That is not the impression I am willing to make and not how I am IRl either. So sorry if that is the case.
Friends?
