Laser Trouble (dont read cd/ or dvd anymore)

ok heres my problem...

after awile my playstation started to make buzzy noises when i played compact disc games.

after another while it didnt read them anymore...

after another while it started to make the buzzy noises to dvd discs

and then that didnt work either after awile...

this process took about 5 months. mabe less i dunno.

i got another ps2, same problem, but i had a warenty this time.
3rd ps2-- same thing... im on my 4th.


now i opened the first trouble ps2 about a month after it crashed. and i checked everything that might effect that problem. and i narrowed it down to the laser. it seems to be shot, just wont work.

anyone heard of this before? or know more about hte problem than me?
is there a way to fix this problem without replacing the laser?
