Hi everyone, I am new here, but have lots of information regarding PS2 and backups etc... but I have some other questions regarding the PS2, and by the way it is PAL.
My PS2 Version: SCPH 30003 R I think it is V5/V6, and has 8 screws. I need to know the following: (for my version) 1-Can I still use the disk swap methods? if so, which ones? 2-Is the "white cog" "white button", still inside and accessible? if so, which method to use? 3-Can I encode DVD Roms for example MGS3, into an ISO so that I can create a backup to play on my PS2? since it is a very big file. 4-Will Action Replay Max, work to help run the backups? equivalent to Game Shark in US. P.S. Please reply ASAP. Thank you for your help. |

To say you have all this information, you aren't at all well informed...
Swapping discs is absolutely junk - and it doesn't work with all games. Therefore, really you need to chip the console. You may think you're saving money, but in the end, after you've bought discs and lids and god knows what else, you've spent the equivalent of a no swap mod chip. Even if you did go for the swap method, all games won't boot, and it'll really start to p*ss you off once the novelty has gone so it costs you again. Best thing to do is to simply get a modchip installed right from the start... P.S: Most of your questions are answered in the Ultimate Info Sticky

I have read the ultimate info sticky and also searched on the Internet, and have decided to get my PS2 chipped, my cousin is going to do it as well around £60; not sure which chip, think crystal.
I also now understand that the disc swap is a lot of hassle and is limited to being able to boot games less than 650MB. I also want to get a DVD RW, so that I can backup my DVD ROM games, for example Tekken 4 or FFX-2 since they are a lot bigger. I have the neccessary software, patches, guides etc..., as far as I am aware of. So can you please comment on the DVD RW I want to get, in this part of the forum. http://fileforums.com/showthread.php...257#post271257 thanks Last edited by ultima_akuma; 15-03-2005 at 11:29. |
