Random No Controller In Port 1

Hey ladies and gents..

Recently during play I've been getting "No controller in control port one, Please connect controller and press start to continue." Messages from time to time.

Controller isn't the problem (Get the error with both of my controllers)
I'm not sure on the actual controller port though.. It may be to blame.
Connection is good.. Nice and snug.
A second or two after the message shows up i'll hit start and play will resume fine.
It's a V7 fitted with a Matrix Infinity, a flux capacitor, NOS, a super charger, 22 inch rims.. all that junk.
(Game i've been playing is Mercenaries POD)
Anyone have any thoughts? (reguarding a solution and not naked women <-TD & AX this means you fellas)

The problem is because your lacking some puffy dice. Get those and try again. If that doesnt work reboot and try 1 last time.

Mercenaries POD is one wonky game.

The game's load time is hell, and drives my PS2's lens crazy trying to read it. The voice acting doesn't sync with the character models, and it freezes every so often.

I stopped playing after ten minutes, lest the game sends my PS2 to the intensive care ward.

In my case, it's probably just a poorly backed up DVD-R, but I've found that most THX Lucasfilm produced games tend to be problematic (eg. LOTR: ROTK.)

Just my two cents.

The loading time is fine if its on the HDD.
