nec 3500a
i have made progress from the last time i posted. now from the time it rips the dvd to the time it writes it takes about 46 minutes. is this normal or is their any faster way to rip. i am using dvd clone

Well unless there is a firmware hack for your drive you probably wont rip any faster than that.

I have the NEC DVD-RW ND-3500AG with Firmware-Version 2.18.
Version 2.18 is the newest available at NEC website. From this version it gives a "hacked" firmware with Rip-Lock removed !!! Just google for "Firmwarepage" and you'll find what you're searching for. Keep in mind, you'll lose the waranty of your DVD-Burner.

Is this true? I lose my warranty when I update the firmware? Even if it's the official one from the NEC page? Currently, I use the one you mentioned (with the rip-lock removed), but I can flash it again with the official one if necessary...they won't notice it, will they?

Even if you loose your warranty a new drive wont be that much anyways.

Hehe, sure...but I'd rather invest this money in a new PS2 game or something like that. Warranty -> kinda important
