Sp2

I installed Sp2 today and I must say I am not to happy with the results! Computer now takes ages to boot up and even longer to shut down! When I'm on the net and open several web pages i seem to get a slight pause when I minamize the pages to the taskbar! Men of Valor (The only game I have tried to play using Sp2) now seems to glitch/stutter in parts whereas it used to play perfectly before! I only installed Sp2 as I am planning to format my system (just to give it a good clean out) and thought I may as well try Sp2 to see for myself if it is really worth installing. So after I do format I wont be installing it again! Just thought I would add this so others who have been contemplating installing it may think twice before doing so! I am aware that many people have complained about it but I am also aware that even more people have not complained about it! I will format, then make a ghost image, then reinstall Sp2, then if I have the same problems I can ghost back to before Sp2.

Yeah the SP2 Saga continues.. I have installed it non my three machines now and have experienced nothing untoward. I can't say it has improved system performance or anything, but neither has it made it worse... Aside from initially badgering me with rather forcefull messages about how vunerable my system was and how it was going to make everything allright by enablilng a Bill Gates only 'in valve' Pah! Needlesss to say that was quickly disabled.

the only thing i really liked about SP2 was IE stuff, popup/activex blocker that doesnt interfere with GCW. The Manage Addons Option. That kinda stuff was nice.
It did take about 10 mins or so make sure everything stopped whining about security though. Apart from the whining, I didn't get any performance problems in games, oh except some games had a FAQ section in the readme that said stuff about "If you install SP2, force feedback will stop working" and that kinda pissed me off a little bit.

Well I've made it back! I did a format then b4 installing any drivers for MB, graphics, sound card etc I updated windows first including Sp2. At this stage all seems fine but I'm yet to install any games! I now have all hardware installed and things seem ok but it is early days yet. But aleast this time I have made 5 Ghost Images along the way so I can revert back to a pre Sp2 installed system if I have to!
And just a little message for 'Luciel' "Ha I beat Valve" (he knows what I'm on about!)
