HELP! - Networking Problems
Anyone that knows anything about networking so that I can connect my X-box to my laptop please help...or how do I add more game folders to my hard drive.
My first problem is that I am trying to add more games to my hard drive (Evo X) and I was told that I have to do it through the computer to add the folders. I tried to connect my X-box to my laptop (using the Evo for dummies guide) and it doesn't work. Willl it work if I am connecting to a laptop that is connected to a network with a wireless adapater? |

You don't need to do it through your PC. First, you did an hdd upgrade right? some xbox games don't even fit in the standard hard-drive.
Get a program called dvd2xbox. Burn it to a disk using one of the xbox compatible methods. Then, load it up. It is a file managers and game ripper. You can either just switch disks then copy, or you can use the file manager to copy it to your HDD and use it from there; eliminating disk swapping. If you still want to network, you will need a network card in your laptop and a crosscable to hook your laptop directly up to your PC. A standard cat5e cable will not do it. You have to go into the network properties. Then scroll down in the window to "ip/tcp options" at the very bottem. Then click the properties tab. Change "obtain an IP automatically" to "use the following ip address". Then edit the options to this: ip address: 192.168.0.100 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.0.1 Hit ok and your pc is then set. Then load up evox, and go into settings. change the "use static ip" to yes, then type an ip (ex: 192.168.0.157) and reboot. Next all you have to do is load up an ftp app like flashfxp, type in the xbox's ip, username and pass are both "xbox". it should connect.

I got the X-box already sent to me ready to go.
The dude that I bought it from loaded 15 game folders on the hard drive (x-box) so that I can save the games directly to the harddrive. I have used all the folders up. I tried adding new games to the hard drive like I did to the 15 games and it doesn't work. He said that I had to add the folders (which I did) and use Flash FXP whixh I have to add these folders. I have no idea |

sent you an xbox with 15 empty folders to copy games into? I dunno what to say about that, except it sounds very suspicious.
anyways, you do need folders to put the games in. I mean, they can't all just be scattered on the root of the partition. DVD2xbox is a program that has an option in it to copy games to the hdd. i mean, after you load the program up, you just put in an xbox disk, hit (A), then choose a drive to copy it to. It created the folder, copies the files into the folder, then opens the tray when finished. Just burn it to a disk and load it up on your xbox. Switch disks with the game you want to copy, and follow the onscreen menu options.

I burned the program to a disk...now it doesn't read the disk to load it. Is there something special that I need to do. I burned it to a DVD-RW...I checked the disk and all the contents are on there. Thanks for all your help.. I hate not knowing how to do this
