Ok Breaking the rulls
Ok i have to say this and be damned if i do....
I do not support piriates... it is wrong and thos who are making money on copies should be busted... I am also very agenst companies that are chargeing $60 on a game for 1 system ... For Example Xbox caust me $120 came with no game and i had to shell out another 60 for a copie of halo <Witch i love dearly> But is it worth $60 i don't think so at all.... also for this big move agenst mod and <what do you call adding the chip to open up the xbox to make it better> chip moding ?? I am for this cause i am one of thoes guys that hate swapping cd's every few hours cause i want to play something diffrent.... did you know that you can go to jail for moding your xbox if MS decided to go that rout?? they are only unable to sew the companies that make the mod chips cause they are not actualy touching your xbox.. nice loop hole don't you think Bites and Kisses \/----\/ From the dark side of the logic circuit come a little thought |

You can't go to jail....Well not in New Zealand anyway...It's legal to make backups of your own games aslong as you don't pirate them/resell that copy you made or your origional..Also people use modchips for playing multi zones of dvd'd like me...My modchip lets me play the dvd'd I import from the US and Japan/Asia I don't see how a company can sue/arrest you for making backups of your own games (expecially if you have children who could ruin them) if you own a legal copy.. |

In Europe you also have the right to make a backup of your original game.
But, the new copyright law in europe are: It's illegal to break a copyprotection mechanism. So, if the original don't have a copy protection, you can make a backup. But if it has a copy protection it will be illegal to break that.

We cannot go to jail for modding and xbox in the US. Illegally having a game you dont own is a differetn issue.
MS can't sue a chip vender becuase MS would lose. There is no loop hole. Xbox mod-chips (the only good ones anyways) come with legal bios on it, that don't even allow you to play original games on your xbox, let alone break any copy protections. MS can't sure because there is nothing TO sue for. Saying that someone could then modify the modchip to "pirate" something, would not stand. Chips are used to run linux on the xbox, completely legally. If someone mods the chip to do otherqise, that is their problem. It is illegal to distribute hacked MS bios, but it is not illegal to have them, as long as you own an xbox. As far as I see it, this topic is close. We don't support piracy, but we do support legally backing up things you own. I lost countless dreamcast games and 2 xbox games from my dog and brother messing with them. That is why I have a right. Think sega or MS are going to replace those? for what they costed me? I think not.
