Infinity mod chip in v7 problems!!

Hi Ive just installed an infinity mod chip in a v7 ps2.

Its my first chip and I didnt seem to have any problems.

Came to switch it on and it wouldnt go any further than the browser window with both an original and backup game. I just get "error reading disk".

Just wondering if theres anything I need to press?

I've also used ide cable wire as I had no kynar, would this be a problem?

Is there any of the solder points in particular that I should redo to solve this problem?

Thanks

Ide cable that inside a computer its the same thickness as kynar.

Can someone tell me if this would be causing the problem?

hi

try the laser cable as if u didnt reconect it propaly then this will happen check both ends ie one going to the mobo and the other end at the laser if this is still happing get a good strong Magnifying glass and look over the points you soldered to as you might have a solder bridge if still no luck unstall the chip and all the solder you put on the mobo and see does it read normal games
hope this helps

get some Kynar and you're laughing

...and some 18AWG for the Power/GND points, if you're using some of that IDE for that, it ain't gonna work anyway.

Thanks guys got some kynar and it sorted it out.
Got it up and working great untill I decided to try something out

Basically when I originally tried to chip the ps2 with the ide cable I must have accidentally splashed a bit of solder on the lazer ribbon right at one of the ends on the contact points.
I got it off best I could but it still didnt look right so I used one out of another ps2.
I obviously then had the problem with having used the ide cable, so after switching to kynar I got it working fine.

Now here's the funny part... I thought while i've got the ps2 open and working I might as well try this lazer ribbon to see if i've damaged it. Put it in, switched on and got a crackling noise for a sec then got a language selection window in black and white then after ive set that it just says error wrong disk. Same happens when I put the undamaged ribbon in aswell.

Anyone know what ive done? Have I blown the lazer maybe
