Friend is having problems swap-loading a game

Hey, I said I'd help my friend out with this so I'm posting for him.

He recently got the DMC3 demo from Japan and I told him he couldn't play it on an American ps2, he didn't wanna get a modchip, so I told him there was a swap method also. He got the slide card but his gameshark is Version 4 and pops the tray when the game loads so the trick doesn't work on it. He says he also tried an Action Replay and that didn't work either.

What could he use as a boot disc of sorts, where he could put in an original game, do the swap trick to put in the import demo without ejecting, and load it?

If it helps, he has a Version 7 PS2, Model # 39001.

I know you said your friend didnt want to chip it but honestly it would be the best course of action. Ask him why he prefers not to chip it? It would be so much more reliable and just plain better. The Duo2 chip would be a perfect solution to his probs. Just curious why the chip option has been eliminated when its the best solution.

seaneyb2003 is an unknown quantity at this point
cgl most people see soldering as a hard job specially when you sell the layout of the mobo for the first time puts people off. Another factor is cost as well. Sometimes cost isnt an issue but depends which chip you go for. if your in the usa i would go with this guy www.norcalmods.com very reliable good reputation. As for uk members hit up lufc he knows people

I bet ur friend doesn't want to chip his console cus of all the myths around, tats why a load of my mates dont want to chip theirs. They say they hear things like "It breaks ps2", "ps2 breaks within a week" etc. This is usally because of a bad install/bad media (really bad) or an experiment e.g. first time someone chipped the v10 etc.

yeah, that's all true. when I had him take the cover off the tray so he could swap, he had a very hard time and said he 'nearly broke the ps2'.

But the main reason is that he just wants to play this one demo. He doesn't plan to play any other imports and isn't interested in burnt games, he's just totally obsessed with DMC3. Of course, it'll be interesting when the actual game comes out in Japan...somehow I think he'll be using this swap method (if we find out how to do it) for 2 games then. Does anyone know how to do the swap trick on a Version 7 PS2?

Geez, He's worried about a modchip messing up the ps2 yet he has no problem removing the drive cover and ramming a card under the tray forcing it to eject. NTM, all of this just play a demo.Guess he will have to wait until the original game is released in his region .
