Ok. If you guys remember a few days ago, I posted a message saying I was going to buy a burnt ps2 from a friend who tried installing a no-solder chip. Well I bought it from him for $25 with all cables except controller. He told me that when he installed it, it turned on fine but while the tray was closing he pressed eject 3 times and it turned off (it never turned on again). Well I opened it up and it seems that he made a hole with the screw to the ribbon that connects the eject and reset button. Thats probably how he burned it. I tested all the fuses and they were all ok except for the fuse (PS1) which is the 3.3v regulator acording to the pics with the soldered fuses that were posted a while back (look here) http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=63057 . I think that I can find this fuse but it's so small (about the size of the head of a needle). Any suggestions? Do you think it can be soldered correctly? What about the reset and eject buttons, do you think that they are blown or can I just get the cable? Please Help.

As far as the cable is concerned, you will need a new one regardless if it has been severly damaged. You could do a bypass but that is not recommended, as the replacement will be safer. In regard to that being the only thing wrong with it, there is one sure way to find out, just get the new cable. Caution is advised as to the amount of time and money you sink into it and weigh the risks of it not working.
A severed cable may not be the only problem but repair/replace is going to be required. Do you have a secondary PS2 you can use the cable out of for testing purposes?

I have a new v9 that I plan to chip with a matrix infinity. I also have a friend with a damaged ps2 I can ask him to lend me the cable to test it out. I will probably go see him on monday. But what do you think about the fuse?

Not sure about the fuse at this point until you get the ribbon replaced.
Once you do that, then you can do a test and see if it works. I doubt the ribbon is the only problem though. As for the fuse, it is very small. Not sure how easy it will be to replace, if at all possible. Try pm-ing spedmetal. He is extremely skilled in this area. Perhaps he can help you in regard to this fuse delema.

PS1 can be replaced - just be VERY careful when you do so...

Ok. I found the fuse and the cable on http://www.richspsxparts.com/ (Thanks for the website Warlock). I talked to Rich which is the owner of the site and he will e-mail me an estimate. I'm going to try changing the cable as you guys suggest. Then i'll try to solder the fuse later on. I was wondering, if I could just bridge it if I can't get it soldered? That fuse is right next to another fuse (emotion engine). If all else fails I could try it.
Spedmetal I would really appreciate it if you could lend me a hand on this. Thanks.

I wouldn’t suggest bridging it that’s for damn sure! The reason being is if the problem is still there, there will be nothing to protect the components it was designed to protect in the first place. Yes that fuse can be replaced. I have done it twice, it’s not easy but it can be done.
I would replace the ribbon cable (not with your friends either as your going to need it if all this works) and the fuse at the same time. Also those no-solder chips are known for blowing the PS1 fuse, not to mention that I'm sure the hole in the cable didn’t do it any good. Good choice going with Rich, he very reliable.
